Feedback from readers

Here are a few snippets of feedback from readers that have written to me or my editor. I haven't been able to ask permission from these people to use their feedback on my site so I have not used their full names. I hope they don't mind. Thanks for writing to me.

“ I started to cry on page 5 and carried on 'till the end where I wept a bit more, and am still reeling from the experience. I have never read a book with so much passion, love, strength, courage and exposure of feelings in my entire life and I read a lot! I am telling everyone I know that if they only read one book in their life it should be this one.”

“I'd just like to say how much I loved your book. I would say "how much I enjoyed reading it" but I lived it. I Felt the pain, the gut wrenching grief, the all consuming heartbreak, the tug of infinite love, the strength of character and the sheer will to survive. Each and every character came alive...This was a story that could only be told with soul - and maybe a dollop of DNA cellular memory.”

"...the most beautiful book I have read in a very, very long time. I am not even sure I will be able to express to you how I feel and how I've felt during the extraordinary journey I have travelled with your book...I feel full of joy, hope and sweet sadness...it's one of those books which you almost can't bear to finish, that you want to turn from the last page right back to the first and go on that journey all over again and again...I think everyone everywhere should read this book"

“I have just finished reading your book Random Acts of Heroic Love and I just wanted to send you a quick note to thank you for writing such a beautiful book. I loved it!

I have just traded my corporate life in and set up a bookshop in a beautiful region of NZ. I was able to get an advance copy of your book and I will be recommending it to customers when it is released here. It really connected with me and I think it was a lovely story to tell. Very sad but lovely at the same time.

"I picked your book up yesterday, started reading it at lunchtime, cancelled night out last night to continue reading, got out of bed three times during night to continue and finally finished it just now. I just wanted to say how fantastic the book was and it is possibly the most touching story I have ever read.  I was further astonished to read that it is based on a true story, that of your grandfather and I am simply in awe of his life and the way you have chronicled it.  It is a story that will remain with me for a long time. Thank you so very much."

"I've just finished your book (which I devoured in two days) and felt compelled to tell you how much it moved me. I think it is possibly the most touching book I've ever read. I wish I was eloquent enough to express exactly why it was so moving and uplifting but it captured the beauty of human nature like nothing I've ever read.

Thank you. Please write another...Everything else I read for a while now is bound to disappoint. "

"I have seldom been so involved in - and so moved by - a book as "Random Acts of Heroic Love".  I spent the last half dozen chapters weeping freely.  Then, emotionally spent, but somehow uplifted, there was only one thing to do: walk the downs over Rhossili Bay, not just because it's mentioned in the book, but because it's probably my favourite place in all the world.  Yes, your book was *that* special.

Thank you so much, Danny, for providing such a wonderful reading experience. Now I'm boring all my friends, insisting they must read it too!"

"Thankyou so much for putting pen to paper, and writing this, one of the most wonderful books I have ever read.   It made me laugh and cry in places, and capitvated me the whole time.   Have told my wife she has to read it.  It was so amazingly written, as beautiful to read as charlotte grey, but far more real!! - if that makes sense.  Once again thankyou, not sure if anything will ever live up to this.  But why not write  the screen play, and get it onto film."

"I have just finished reading your book, Random acts of Heroic love.It was a very moving and thought provoking experience. It is  one of the most moving and emotive  stories that I have ever read.I had to keep stopping so that I could cry for a bit before I carried on.I was totally enthralled by the love and passion in the story. Your characters were vivid and alive.I felt as if I was on the bus with Leo and Eleni, almost urging them not to make the journey. Many parts of the story could have been taken from my life. I will be copying out sections to keep and reminisce over.I loved the journal entries. They made the book more personal and real.My heart was pulled in a thousand different directions.I was relieved, sad, happy and drained when I finished reading. This book is up there with my all time favourite Wuthering Heights. Thank you so much for writing such a fantastic novel.Love is out there all around us. it does inspire you and it is what makes the world go around.Leo and Moritz held on to the fire in their souls. Please write more and very soon."
